SOMERS : WEBSTER BANK
Case Details:
On August 25, shortly after 11:15 a.m., State Police Troop C received several 9-1-1 calls and bank alarms from the Webster Bank located at 637 Main Street in Somers reporting that a bank robbery had just taken place. Troopers responded to the scene and immediately began a search of the area. State Police K-9 Teams responded to participate in the search for the suspect.
The bank robbery scene was secured and State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to process the crime scene. There were no injuries sustained during this robbery. Troopers identified and conducted interviews with several witness regarding the bank robbery.
State Police Investigators determined that the suspect is a white male in his early twenties, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, white and blue bandana covering his face, sunglasses, blue jeans and black gloves with white stripes. The suspect ran into the bank and jumped over the counter to the teller stations demanding money from the tellers. There was no weapon shown or implied. The suspect then jumped back over the counter and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled from a rear parking lot/wood line of an adjacent church and drove from the scene in a dark-colored sedan.
The suspect vehicle traveled north on Battle Street. Surrounding Police Departments and MA State Police were advised of the details of this robbery.
There were no injuries to bank personnel. The CT Bankers Reward Association is offering a $2,000.00 reward for the arrest of the suspect.
